Applications are invited for the post of:
Technical Officer (Mechanical)
The Technical Officer (Mechanical) shall oversee and monitor all Mechanical engineering solutions across Landscope and provide technical support to the Offices and Business Parks team to ensure that the work delivered is according to Landscope standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and input relating to Mechanical Disciplines to Manager and Assistant Manager.
- Carry out thorough site surveys to ensure that work is carried out to the appropriate standards
- Conduct diagnostics to determine the appropriate approach to address the needs of project
- Implement local Mechanical projects and infrastructure at various stages, in line with approved design criteria and standards
- Conduct Value Engineering studies to identify and recommend areas for cost reduction, from optimal re-design of projects and optimal quantity of required construction materials
- Ensure that repairs are conducted on all serviceable HVAC issues and delegate any complex repairs to the appropriate contractor
- Support the development of company-wide frameworks and design systems in relation to Mechanical Engineering and in accordance with local rules and regulations
- Implement best practices for Mechanical engineering at Landscope
- Support the development of guidelines capturing design decisions that minimise cost and time overruns, while delivering high quality Mechanical projects
- Prepare standardised Mechanical Engineering methodologies, tools and best practices to ensure consistency in high quality deliverables
- Oversee the execution of Mechanical related activities across Landscope
- Compile soft and hard copies of calculations and drawings to provide comments and assurance on design standards, codes of safety and stability, strength and stiffness specifications, when needed
- Contribute to the validation of external Consultant proposals and contribute recommendations regarding the appointment of external Consultants, when required
- Oversee the progress of the Mechanical projects and standards of work delivered by external Contractors and / or Consultants to ensure that project specifications and approved parameters are met
- Liaise with external Consultants to make sure that drawings and designs are as per the local regulations and international standards and codes of safety and stability
- Conduct reviews and provide recommendations for amendments to Mechanical designs at various stages of the project
- Conduct due diligence of external Consultants and Contractors to recommend Service Providers and Suppliers
- Lend support in conducting technical analyses of tender bids received from external Consultants and Contractors
- Monitor and control the progress of the project and standard of the work delivered by Consultants and Contractors to ensure that Mechanical project specifications and approved parameters are met, in line with agreed project objectives (i.e. time, costs and quality)
- Ensure compliance to relevant health, safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls
- Liaise with the external Contractors and Consultants to make sure that Mechanical engineer designs align to local regulations, international standards and codes of safety and stability
- Ensure required permits and licenses are obtained to enable the start of the Mechanical projects
- Ensure that external Contractors, Consultants and Service Providers comply with established Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)
- Review and distribute reports to the Manager to provide Engineering and project status updates
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of section systems, processes and practices, considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement
- Research and evaluate new technologies and methodologies continuously to keep abreast of state-of-the-art developments
Minimum experience requirements:
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of practical experience in a Building & Facilities Services environment.
Minimum education requirements:
- Minimum of a Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
- Previous exposure and experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical Project Management (i.e. Operations Maintenance, Commissioning, Project Oversight) will be an advantage.
